Book with confidence: COVID-19 Update

Water-babies have an opportunity to wake up in the middle of the ocean when staying in the unique underwater room at the Manta Resort on Pemba Island. This resort is a true island escape, offering rooms in lush tropical gardens and white sandy beaches under swaying palm trees. Turquoise oceans provide the perfect place for watersport enthusiasts, while the resort itself offers luxury in abundance for island lovers.

Manta Resort is the epitome of barefoot beach luxury and is the worthy recipient of numerous awards. Located on Zanzibar’s coveted pristine tropical island, Pemba, The Manta Resort is simply out of this world. Each luxury island chalet faces the sugar-white beach and is within a few metres from the shoreline. The tropical gardens surrounding the resort provide a sanctuary for local birdlife and a charming place to explore.

There is an option of four accommodation types. The unusual and well-documented Underwater Room is located in the marine conservation area. The room is submerged in the azure waters and has another level above water with a tanning deck and lounge area. There are modern, open-plan seafront villas with outside showers, ensuite bathrooms, sea-facing decks, and small Jacuzzis. Superior Garden Rooms are tucked away in the verdant greenery and offer a private garden area with an outside shower. The Standard Garden Rooms are constructed from local materials and have thatched roofs, offering a more rustic option. Each Standard Garden Room has a small verandah.

A beach bar serving Piña coladas, Singapore Slings, and a host of tropical-themed cocktails is a popular place at the resort. This island escape is ideal for fishing, snorkelling, diving and beach orientated excursions. Visitors can learn how to scuba dive or spend hours walking along the sandy beach.

  • Guests can fall asleep underwater and watch colourful fish swim past.
  • Raised platform with an alfresco restaurant offering freshly caught seafood.
  • Visitors can organise all outdoor excursions from the resort, and even learn how to scuba dive on-site.
  • Fresh seafood is brought in from the shores daily.
  • Friendly staff go out fo their way to ensure unique honeymoon set-ups.
  • The resort is close to a marine conservation area.
